Answering a new call to serve

Brian Nathan has spent his life serving his country, his community, and the working families of Florida. Now he’s ready to take that fight to the State Senate.

Service, Family, and Florida Roots

Brian Nathan is a proud Navy veteran and dedicated union leader. He met his wife Tonia, an Orlando native, while both were serving their country. After separating from the Navy in 2008, in the midst of the Great Recession, Brian and Tonia chose Tampa as their home. They pursued their education, built their lives together, and started their family. Brian attended Hillsborough Community College and then graduated cum laude from University of Tampa with a double major in Philosophy and Sociology.

Working across the sunshine state

As a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Brian has worked in communities across Florida. From military bases in the Panhandle to power stations close to home, he has served as an apprentice, electrician, and foreman. He has spent countless hours working in the sun and rain, always committed to getting the job done—often with fewer resources but a determination to deliver quality work.

Stepping Up to Lead

Brian has been a proud member of his union for nearly ten years, joining after he graduated as a Journeyman. In 2022, Brian answered the call to serve again, joining the leadership team of IBEW Local 915. In this role, he fights every day to improve the lives of all electrical workers—union and non-union alike. He advocates for safer work sites, higher wages, stronger benefits, and access to training that helps workers excel in their craft.

Fighting for District 14

Today, Brian sees what’s happening in Tallahassee and feels compelled to serve his neighbors once more – this time in the Florida Senate. He believes working-class families in District 14 have been left behind. Wages remain stagnant while rents and insurance rates skyrocket. Homeownership is slipping out of reach. And rather than tackling these urgent challenges, too many legislators are distracted by divisive culture wars.

A Practical Agenda for Real People

Brian knows District 14 needs a leader unafraid of hard work. He’s someone who can get things done and work with people from all walks of life. He understands that political theater doesn’t help families facing the choice between paying rent or putting food on the table.

When elected, Brian will fight for:

  • Good-paying jobs with strong safety protections and benefits that allow families to thrive
  • Affordable housing to ensure Floridians can live where they work
  • Quality education that equips every child for success

Steel-toed integrity

Brian has built his life on what he calls “steel-toed integrity” – showing up, doing the work, and having his neighbor’s back. Whether on a job site, in the union hall, or in the state capitol, he will bring the same values and work ethic that have guided him throughout his life.

For Brian, the American Dream is more than a slogan – it’s a blueprint. And working people, he believes, hold the tools to build it. “Let’s get to work.”
